The Director for Digital Engagement and Communications will work with the Executive Director of Digital Engagement and Communications and the Communications Coordinator to execute various communications initiatives to Syracuse University's 241,000 alumni across the globe. The Director will play a key role in executing streamlined communications processes for all internal and external communications efforts on behalf of the central alumni office, regional alumni clubs, and regional alumni offices (New York, NY, Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, CA)—reviewing all emails and other communications vehicles to ensure cohesive, on-brand messaging. Additionally, the Director will explore new trends and technology in an effort to keep alumni highly engaged with their alma mater.
The Director will manage a Communications Coordinator and will work closely with communications and alumni engagement professionals in Syracuse University's schools/colleges/units to ensure seamless internal communications efforts so as to maximize and enhance external efforts. He/she will also oversee content updates for the new Syracuse University Alumni Association website (including the 'CuseCommunity online alumni community), will write event remarks for key university leaders and regional volunteers, and will create social media toolkits for all special projects executed by the Office of Alumni Engagement in partnership with other campus units—all under the direction of the Executive Director.
Following the strategy put forth by the Executive Director, the Director will also incorporate data-driven insights into all communications efforts, ensuring that messages resonate with specific alumni audiences, and recommending changes to messaging techniques when more effective methods are available. The Director must be an experienced writer for both print and digital platforms and must demonstrate extraordinary attention to detail.
