TheNational Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is seeking a Public Affairs Associate to join our Public Affairs and Mobilization division; Advocacy department. The Public Affairs Associate is a member-facing position and is responsible for developing member communications and coordination of events in support of the NAM’s advocacy initiatives, public affairs programs and regionally based field operations. The Public Affairs Associate is an integral member of the team with responsibility for the association’s public affairs initiatives and operations.

Interact regularly with NAM members and support the National Public Affairs Steering Committee (NPASC).
Develop agendas, communication and provide logistical support at meetings (both in-house and external), facilitate conference calls, track meeting registration, prepare meeting materials, list and file management, and member inquiries.
Responsible for the development of member communication, including regular issue updates, official association correspondence, talking points and event notices related to the Public Affairs and Mobilization Division.
Work with the NAM’s Advocacy team to execute association-wide fly-ins and member engagement events such as conferences, briefings with leading policy makers in D.C. as well as forums with policymakers at member company facilities.
In partnership with the VP of Advocacy, responsible for planning, promoting, developing and implementing project timelines for these high impact events.
Interact with the NAM’s most significant member companies and official partner organizations.
Assist with registration and on-site support and works closely with the NAM’s Meetings Management Team to ensure quality member experiences.
Responsible for handling logistics and execution of division communication initiatives which includes preparing, maintaining and updating briefing materials, memorandum presentations, and written remarks.
Maintain collateral in support of the NAM’s regionally based field operatives and materials related to the NAM’s advocacy campaign initiatives.
Responsible for working with management to maintain budgets, track expenses and manage processes related to contract and invoice processing.
Assists in the development and implementation the association’s Congressional recognition initiatives, voter education and political involvement resources.
Maintain and develop advocacy tools such data analytics and detailed performance metrics related to association’s public affairs programs.
Schedule cross-departmental meetings, arrange briefings with NAM members, and update collateral materials as well as web-based resources.
Coordinating internal association communications related to NAM advocacy projects.
Provide occasional travel support for the SVP of the Division and Department VP.
We are looking for Team Players who meet the Following Criteria:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university preferred.
A minimum of three years related experience and/or training.
Prior association experience preferred, Capitol Hill experience helpful but not necessary.
Proficiency in Word for Windows, Excel, Access and familiarity with or ability to learn Web content management application.
Must be well organized and self-motivated, with the ability to work well under pressure and able to manage workload to meet deadlines.
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, perform multiple tasks using various software applications.
Strong editing and proofreading skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Team oriented and customer service focused with the ability to interact regularly with member company executives.
