The Director of Media and Digital Strategy will lead a digital first approach to marketing and communications for NYU’s central divisions and departments. He/she will be responsible for planning, creating, developing and implementing innovative, impactful, and results-driven global branding and communications initiatives for the university, including marketing automation, digital advertising, social media, and traditional media. The incumbent will also be responsible for the continued development of the Media department's vision, capabilities, and evolution; further solidifying the division as the university’s internal marketing agency. The Director of Media and Digital Strategy will be responsible for the successful execution of a $2MM (million) annual marketing budget and will work closely with key internal and external partners to increase student enrollment and brand awareness. He/she will have expert knowledge in integrated marketing, traditional and digital marketing channels, Paid Search, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Display/Behavioral Targeting, Social Media, Mobile Marketing, Video Marketing, local advertising, e-mail marketing, emerging technologies, and internal/external partnerships, attribution modeling, and leveraging data for marketing decisions. Comprehensive campaign evaluations and insightful analytics reporting are key components of the position.
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related discipline.
Preferred Education: Graduate Degree in Marketing or related field preferred
Required Experience: Min 8 years of digital marketing experience with a proven record of developing, executing digital media/ online marketing and communication campaigns and be proficient with the leading social media platforms (including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube). Must have experience leading a Marketing and Digital Communications team and enhancing high-traffic campaigns. Strong experience in developing digital acquisition and retention strategies based on data-driven insights.
Preferred Experience: Deep understanding of the most effective digital marketing strategies. Strong leader in the development and execution of content marketing, digital advertising strategies, and influencer development. Adept at articulating conclusions from data, raising issues with insight into implications and persuasive when presenting. Higher Education experience preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Must have strong experience in content and email marketing, website optimization, social media campaigns, SEO/SEM, and display advertising. Must have proven experience in managing established KPI’s of digital efforts, spearheading analytics reporting, analysis and communications of marketing plans. Must have working knowledge of the Internet and intranets, and specifically websites, portals, and social media and how they relate to the larger marketing function. Excellent writing and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability. Client-focused and the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of constituents both orally and in writing.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Highly creative with prior agency experience. Thorough understanding of “media strategy” and development of a holistic media solution. Web design and development knowledge is a plus.
