Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Vice Dean for External Relations and Development, the Executive Director, Strategic Communications will serve in a leadership role and will have high level strategic oversight and planning responsibilities for delivering high impact branding and messaging through digital communications including social media, internal communications, and web design. Key communication outcomes include maintaining and strengthening the School's brand, promoting faculty teaching and research, building community, and building brand pride by communicating with and engaging the School's key constituents including prospective students, students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and relevant practitioner communities. Reaching a global audience will be central to this role.
The candidate will work collaboratively across External Relations and Development and the School to coordinate communications and engagement strategies including with the School's faculty communications committee to support the School's vision and mission. This role combines managing staff as well as leveraging outsourcing to vendor partners. This individual will meet core and partnership values of teamwork, integrity, accountability, and respect.
The Executive Director will manage four officers of administration.
1.With input from the Vice Dean, Dean's office Chief of Staff, communications staff, and the faculty communications committee develops strategic plans for the School's website; digital, social, and internal communications. Oversees the implementation and monitoring of these plans.
2.Provides supervision and mentorship to four direct reports ensuring effective implementation and monitoring of strategic plans.
3.Partner with the School's thought leadership to listen to ideas and to analyze execution plans.
4.Engage with faculty to highlight their research and teaching innovations.
5.Create metrics to measure the effectiveness of the School's digital, social media, internal, and web communications and make timely adjustments to serve current needs.
6.Assists the Vice Dean with miscellaneous communications requests and projects.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree required. Minimum of eight years related experience with proven results and demonstrated proficiency in this field.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Must have held a senior leadership role for at least 3 years. Must have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects under deadline pressures. Must have the ability to lead and work in a high-volume, high-demand, highly collaborative, supportive, team oriented office. Must be organized, creative, enterprising, persuasive, and tactful. Excellent writing, oral communication, and editorial skills required. Some evenings and weekend hours required.
